I needed a break from all the fuzzy pinkness that is this Christmas present. Progress is good, but it's so hot and humid that I need to put it away until cooler temps. The angora is just annoying to work with in the heat and I don't want to put that energy into the present.

So I cast on for another scarf. This is a Christmas present for one of my sisters - I'm not saying which one in case she's reading this....whomever it is, had better act surprised when she opens it! I really struggled with this one - I must have cast on 7 different patterns. The yarn is so strongly (and wonderfully) dyed that it overpowered all of the patterns I tried. I finally went back to one of my favourite designs - it was just perfect.

Yarn: Indigo Moon Superwash Merino (purchased at The Purple Purl)

Pattern: Drop Scarf - 47 stitches wide

I'm about 1/2 way done - it's knitting up quickly (thank goodness) because there is a long line of presents to be done that is starting to get a bit scary!

I had an able assistant in pinning it out - unfortunately the lack of opposable thumbs did hamper her efforts somewhat

I'm taking part in the Spindlers August Challenge. This is my first attempt at it - I'm not all that thrilled with the plying so I'm doing some more in the hopes that I get better at it before the end of August when the final project is due. If I don't get it done in time, this will be my entry. The theme is Rainforest and these greens were perfect for it.

This is my Hound Design spindle (also from The Purple Purl). My favourite spindle by far. It's 37g and spins like a dream.

Eventually the patience ran out - I swear she said "Enough picture taking human - feed me before I come and shed all over your nice scarf"
