Monkey Farts

I don’t know why it popped into my head yesterday, but it did.

“This knitting looks like Monkey Farts”. I reached out to the innerweb to confirm and while they were all polite, the consensus was that yes, it did have a certain odour to it.

Pattern: Forest Canopy
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock
Colourway: Beverley
Needles: 4mm

While it will make lovely socks, it’s not destined for the shawl world.

Instead I cast on with

Fortissima Socka Degradee Color Mit Bamboo, colourway 106

The lighting on the shawl doesn’t show it so here’s a better picture that shows
the different colours in it

Much more like the person who will receive it and not a single Monkey Fart in
sight.

I went on a bit of a stash dive over the last few weeks – Clancy’s vet bill confirmed that need. I also wanted some summer socks to wear – my winter ones are just to hot in 30C weather. Amazingly deep down in the bowels of the sock tub was a bunch of bamboo and cotton sock yarn. Yeah!

Here’s the first pair

Pattern: Wendy Johnson’s toe up slip stitch heel pattern
Yarn: Regia Cotton
Needle: 2.25mm

For those who have asked, I’m happy to say that Clancy has rebounded completely.
I have given up on the cone of shame as she doesn’t go after the stitches, she’s
done her meds, and is still trying to convince us that the vet was kidding about
no treats. The stitches come out next Saturday and hopefully that’s the end of the tale of woe!

  1. Love your socks and I think your shawl will turn out much better in the new color… Since you have these socks finished you could use the other yarn to make another pair of socks, you know… Must keep busy…

  2. I missed the flurry of e-mails, until I got back this evening. I like the second effort much better, and the unnamed recipient should be really happy with it.

  3. Holy cow that looks just like something I’ve been working on. Eek. I know, I know, there are only so many lace patterns and so many ways to combine them, but still…
