I’m late with my posting because, well I’ve had the plague. It started the Wednesday before Christmas when I went on vacation (of course) and is still lingering on. No amount of cough medicine, decongestant, puffers, hot toddy’s or straight up booze has been able to lessen its grip.

It seems to have turned me into a cooking machine though. I’ve stocked my freezer with soups and stews and chilies so that when I go back to the salt mine tomorrow, I’m ready.

I’ve decided that this is my year of taking care of me. I joined Weight Watchers a few months
ago and I’m happy report that I’m down 15 lbs. It’s not going as fast as I’d like it to, but as I have a certain fondness for merlot and good cheese, this is to be expected. As long as it’s going, that’s what’s important to me. One of the good things with the new plan is that fruit and veggies are free from points values. This makes me happy because I was one of the people that chose chocolate over apples every time. Now I can have both.

I’m also getting my finances in line. I’m on a self imposed stash diet. If I can lose the weight off my hips, I can loose it off my stash. I’m going to work through my fibre and yarn as much as I possibly can this year. I will admit to a few pre-emptive shopping expeditions but I’m feeling pretty good about this.

I wasn’t a great blogger last year because most of what I was knitting was for Christmas presents and I couldn’t show you ahead of time. Well, they’ve all been distributed so here’s the “big show”. I am happy to say that all of these projects came out of my stash resource centre.

As you can see it was a very busy year on the knitting front. I have more projects to share, but I’ll save those for another post.

This quote came through my Weight Watchers Facebook page and I really think it’s appropriate. I’ll leave you with it, along with my wishes for a very prosperous, health, happy, and fibre filled year.

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on
them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is
New Year’s Day. -Edith Lovejoy Pierce
