Full Circle
Believe it or not I have never knit with anything I’ve spun. This is mostly because I
had never spun up enough yardage to make anything. A while ago I did manage to spin up some Romney from
Spunky Eclectic. While it isn’t the softest (Romney never is), it sure is pretty. The striping reminds me of a Noro and it’s really quite nice to work with.
It started like this:
Was spun into this:
And knitted into the Amanda Hat:
I did toss it in the washer for one cycle because my 14 WPI was a bit thinner
than the pattern called for and as a result was a tad floppy. Felting it lightly
helped to tighten it perfectly to fit my head.
I had enough left over to start a scarf. I’m not sure how long it will be but I’m just going to knit until I run out of yarn.
Pattern:
Needle: 5.0mm
WPI – 14 (dk-ish)
c/o 26 sts
Row 1 (RS): k1, slip 1, k1, yarn over, pass slipped stitch over knit
stitch and yarn over repeat to end, k1
Row 2 (WS): purl
Repeat until you run out of yarn
