A little retail therapy is good for the soul

Warning – major pictures and stash enhancement possibilities below

I’ve been spending my own stimulus cheque (minus the cheque since I’m Canadian) lately. I don’t know what it is, but so many wonderful yarns and fibres have just followed me home.

Where to start…

Probably my favourite is from Misty Haven Alpacas in Corbeil, Ontario. Lorraine Smith of
Spinner’s Quarterly turned me on to this wonderful lady. Norma is the most pleasant person I have dealt with in years. Honestly – if you’re looking for butter soft fluffy beyond all reason fibre, give her a shout.

I give you the most fabulicious 55% alpaca, 15% angora, and 30% merino blend Natural (fawn?)

Of course Clancy my alpaca-addicted cat had to try to get in the bag to
get to it when I wasn’t looking. Even though she tried to deny it, the evidence
was clearly left behind – those are teeth marks folks.

I can’t wait to get this on my wheel. But first I have to finish spinning
another beautiful fibre I bought recently. The colour is Neptune and I bought
4.1 oz from Poppy Flower Fibres on Etsy. The colours are so rich it’s amazing. I’ve spun up about 2 oz and am about to start a new bobbin with the other half. I’m much further
ahead than the picture would show, I just haven’t had time to take a new one.

As if that bounty isn’t enough, these yarns somehow appeared at my house. Sheri
at the Loopy Ewe knows my weak spots
(and there are plenty!). I’m taking part in the
Summer of Socks 2008 so
I can totally justify new stash enhancement (never mind that I have a huge
Rubbermaid tote of sock yarn at the ready).

Shepaints Bamboolaine
handpainted sockyarn – 75% wool, 20% bamboo, 420m

And some beautiful soft green sock yarn from ShiBuiKnits in colour seaweed. I have plans for this one already –
Wendy’s

Snapdragon socks
.

Today is World Knit in Public Day and unfortunately I’m plague ridden sick. My head is ready to explode and I feel like I’ve swallowed razors. Unlike the “generous” person who “shared” this ebola virus with me, I will not be paying it forward. I’m going to sit at home and cuddle some fibre.

Enjoy the day for those of you who are gadding about!
