A Year of Stash
I was rummaging through my resource centre looking for yarn for my sister’s Christmas present. She had asked for something from my stash and I was looking for the perfect yarn. Then it dawned on me. I have *ahem* a lot of stash. I wonder how much I have I thought to myself. Some I had fallen madly passionately to-the-death in love with, only to toss it aside when the next one came to the door. I am a fickle knitter for sure.
According to Ravelry, I have logged almost 140 km (87 miles) of yarn. And that doesn’t count 3 rubbermaid totes of fibre and fleece and what never made it to the inventory.
This might call for an intervention.
Based on conversations I’ve had, I know I’m not the only one with a prodigious resource centre, so I’m rounding up the troops of my online friends and calling for A Year of Stash. I’ve edited my Ravelry queue http://www.ravelry.com/people/stashaholic/queue to reflect items I’d like to make using the stash.
My goal is to knit from the stash for a year. With me being me, I know I will become resentful if I can’t buy new pretties, but I’m going to only allow myself one purchase of fibre/yarn a month. And I’ll blog it to keep me honest if I do buy something.
So my first project on AYOS (as it will be known because I’m too lazy to type) is a pair of socks I started a year ago. They are gorgeous and I don’t know why I didn’t finish them – they just fell into a hole and I got distracted by “oh shiny” new yarns.
