Shoemaker's Daughter

I am always making blankets for other people - weddings, births and countless  Heartmade Blessings comfortghans for people going through difficult times.

I'd say I've made over 20 afghans in the last two years. And given them all away.

It's gotten a bit cold here at night, so when I went to get out my own afghans I realized what a sad state they were in. I made the last one over 8 years ago - no wonder it's full of holes (unintentional ones!).

So I've decided it's high time to make some for myself. I really liked this pattern for a bedspread but there's no way in heckers I'm going to make one out of cotton. I would like to have a product that I could actually finish in this lifetime.

I'm making it out of TLC Heathers in a dark purple and a 4mm hook. There's a tiny green fleck in it, but you can't see it. The finished squares are working up to around 13". Each block in the original was 5", so that's not too bad. I love the way it's turning out too. Sometimes with motifs it's a surprise how it all fits together. Here are the first four blocks.

Oh, and yes, it's already Clancy approved.
